WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry pitched the case for former WWE Champions AJ Styles and Randy Orton to headline WrestleMania 35.
WWE confirmed this match earlier this week. This comes after this match had been brewing for weeks. Many people believe that two matches could fill this spot at WrestleMania.
Whether that be WWE Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch or WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins. However, for Henry, he thinks Orton vs. Styles could main event the show. He gave his take during a recent episode of Busted Open Radio.
“This is one of those matches that people look at and go ‘it’s not filler. These are both stars, both guys have been champion multiple times.” He would bring up the matches listed above but thinks this is the main event match. “Randy Orton is not on the Mount Rushmore yet but he’s slowly, slowly entering that top 15, top 10 of all time,” Henry stated.
”AJ Styles, from the time that he was an indie guy until he worked his way up and worked down south to now coming to the WWE. He did everything at every level that there is to do. He has become an elite champion, not just a champion but one of the guys who can carry the load. He has carried it for the last two years. So why wouldn’t this be in the conversation as a main event match at WrestleMania.”
WWE will hold WrestleMania 35 on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium. You can listen to the clip by clicking on the player below:
