Luke Harper requests release from WWE

Luke Harper is the latest Superstar to request a release from WWE. It’s unclear if the company will grant it to him but he made it known to the public on Twitter.

“As of this evening, I have requested a release from WWE. The past 6 years have been a simple, amazing journey around the world and back with lifelong friends and family. I am proud of it all and proud to say I shared the ring with my co workers.

The decision, as difficult as it was, feels right for myself and WWE. My goal in the future is to continue to grow as a performer and person and continue to make my family proud.

Thank you. From the top to the bottom of WWE. Thank you to the fans for your undying support. Thank you everyone.”

Harper returned from a hand injury in February but was rarely used on TV and live events. He is well-liked by everyone on the company but many people would acknowledge that he fell victim to the overcrowded roster. It’s an issue that has caused others to look elsewhere. Hideo Itami and Tye Dillinger were granted releases while others like The Revival, Maria and Mike Kanellis were not. Others like Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are expected to explore other options and they have told friends that they will not renew their contracts when they expire in September.
